BRC Course Information
Welcome to the Basic Rider Course. The following information will help prepare you for the exciting and educational experience ahead of you.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS
- WATER or other non-alcoholic beverage and a snack
- A copy of your enrollment confirmation
- Additional paper on which to make notes
- Proof of your eligibility to be in the class. You will need one of the following:
- A valid Driver's License
- A valid California Learner's Permit
- A certificate showing the completion date of the classroom portion of Driver's Education
IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 your parent or legal guardian will be required to sign a waiver in the presence of an RiderCoach or an approved staff member prior to your being allowed in the class.
WHAT TO BRING TO THE RANGE
(including riding gear that you MUST have to participate!!!!)
- Leather or leather-like gloves, closed back, full fingered, wrist length or longer.
- Sturdy high top shoes or boots, shoes MUST COVER the anklebone; fabric footwear is not permitted.
- Long, sturdy pants; leather, "blue-jeans" or, denim only.
- HELMETS are provided as part of the course.
- Your own DOT approved helmet may be worn (3/4 or full face only). If it does not have a face shield, you will also need glasses or goggles to protect your eyes.
MOTORCYCLES AND/OR SCOOTERS
You are encouraged to use our training motorcycles. If you want to use your own vehicle it must meet the following criteria:
- Under 350 cc in size
- Safe and in good condition, subject to the RiderCoach's approval
- Fully insured (bring proof)
SPECTATORS
No one except students are allowed in the classroom, and experience has shown that it is not in the best interest of the student to have friends or family observing the riding sessions.
EXAMS, GRADUATION AND CERTIFICATES
There will be a written exam at the end of the classroom session.
There will be a riding exam at the end of the second day of riding.
There is no guarantee of graduation. If the RiderCoach decides that the student is not emotionally or physically equipped to safely ride, the student will be removed from the riding activities. If the RiderCoach allows you to proceed, you may reschedule on a stand-by basis to complete course.
Following successful completion of both exams, completion cards will be issued. Within 10 days you will be mailed a DMV completion certificate required to apply for your motorcycle license.
YOU MUST BE ON TIME!
The state program prohibits allowing students to enter the class after the session has started.
